Apple reduces prices of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air by up to Rs 30,000
Cupertino-based tech giant Apple has reduced the prices of both 2018 models of MacBook Pro and MacBook Air in India. After the price drop, the Apple MacBook Pro will now be available at Rs 1,19,900 for the 13-inch model which was launched at Rs 1,49,900. For students, the company is offering it at an even lower price of Rs 1,11,264. As for the MacBook Air, the new price of the device has been set to Rs 99,900 down from Rs 1,14,900. For students, it is available for purchase at Rs 92,704.
The special discount for students is courtesy Apple’s Back to School Promotion that is available for higher education students, their parents, faculty, staff and home-school teachers through the Apple Education Store and will be available through Apple Authorised Resellers from July 25.
Updates to Apple MacBook Pro
The entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro that has undergone a price reduction of Rs 30,000 adds quad-core processors, Touch Bar and Touch ID, True Tone to the Retina display and the Apple T2 Security Chip.
Updates to Apple MacBook Air
MacBook Air that has undergone a price reduction of Rs 15,000, now comes with True Tone technology that automatically adjusts the colour temperature of the display.
MacBook Air and MacBook Pro will get an operating system update macOS Catalina this September. Apple introduced the operating system on June 4 as part of its annual WWDC. Some features include new photo browsing UI, updated Safari app, new Notes and redesigned Reminders app and ScreenTime feature introduced for Mac. As a part of macOS 10.15 Catalina, Apple killed iTunes and split this between Apple Music, Podcasts and Apple TV. The Podcast app gets updated in addition to a new Sidecar feature that lets you convert iPad into a secondary display for the Mac.
