How to register for State Bank of India internet banking with online SBI
New Delhi: Country’s largest lender by assets State Bank of India (SBI) offers the facility of internet banking with which the users can access their account and perform various other transactions. People having a savings account with State Bank of India can register for SBI net banking without visiting the bank branch by registering at the SBI online website.
Earlier, a person willing to register for SBI net banking was mandated to visit the bank branch to submit the physical form. Joint account holders are not eligible to register for SBI net banking with the online registration process, they are still required to visit the bank branch. In order to register yourself on the SBI net banking portal, the user should have an active mobile number linked with the bank account and an active ATM-cum-debit card.
How to register for SBI net banking online
Select ‘New User Activation/Registration’ on SBI website, www.onlinesbi.com, and click on ‘Ok’ to continue if you have not applied for the SBI net banking from the bank branch. Select ‘New User Registration’, click on ‘Next’ and enter the relevant personal details such as bank account number, CIF number, registered mobile number with the bank, bank branch code, and click on ‘Submit’. User will also be required to select the facilities required under the net banking. The aforementioned personal details can be obtained from the bank’s passbook.
Following the submission, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent on the registered mobile number. Click on ‘Confirm’ after entering the OTP and then select the option ‘I have my ATM card (Online registration without branch visit)’ and click on submit. Enter ATM-cum-debit card details, captcha code to proceed further.
After this, the user will get a temporary username which can be used to create the login password. Create the password accordingly which should contain at least eight characters, including one upper, one lower case alphabet, one number and one special character. Login again with the temporary username and password and create a new username. Select the check-box to accept the State Bank of India’s internet banking terms and conditions and click on submit.
Finally, you will have to create new login password and profile password (both passwords are different), select a secret question and provide an answer which is required for verification purposes in case you forget password or username in future. Enter the date of birth (DoB), registered mobile number, country of birth and click on submit. With this step, all the details and settings will be saved and you are ready to use the SBI net banking facility.
