Railway opens gaming zone at station

For the first time in Indian Railways, a gaming zone has been developed at platform number one of the Vishakhapatnam Railway Station for waiting passengers and their children. This is an innovative initiative by Waltair Division of the railways. The initiative is under the non-fare revenue for entertaining the passengers or kids waiting at the station.


The gaming zone has been developed under the New, Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS) of the railway ministry. The objective of this initiative is to improve passenger services and to promote innovative ideas and concepts for the enhancement of the non-fare revenue, at the same time.

Features of the new gaming zone:

1. The facility has been developed across an area of 400 square feet.

2. The services of the gaming zone can be availed by Indian Railways passengers and railway users.

3. Passengers and users can avail the gaming zone services at a nominal cost of Rs 50 per game per programme during their visit to the Visakhapatnam railway station.

3. The gaming zone consists has modern gaming facilities such as Virtual-Reality games (car racing, gun fighting and others), Doraemon, Hit mouse, Doreamonfriend, Musical play, Air Hockey, Basketball, and others.

The Visakhapatnam railway station was earlier featured in the Indian Railways list of cleanest stations in 2018. Since 2016.

It is worth mentioning that, in an attempt to prevent sudden spurt in fares during the festive season, railways recently informed that it will put a regulator in place to set a ceiling for fares, before allowing private players to run trains…..Read more>>
