Wipro offers single-digit pay hike, special incentives to employees working on these technologies
While this is for offshore employees located in India, onsite employees, primarily in the US and Europe, have received low-to-middle single digit hikes.
The company also announced special incentives to employees working in digital technology areas such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. “There was a special focus on incentivising and rewarding employees in early-career stage who are engaged in transformative and future-oriented technologies,” said a Wipro spokesperson.
From entry level to five years’ experience, increment has been 6-8%, two persons aware of the matter told ET. The spokesperson said the company has offered “substantially higher” increment to high performers.
Saurabh Govil, chief human resources officer, Wipro, had recently said the industry has been seeing a different trend as more tech services companies are hiring based on focused skills. He said the biggest challenge would be to get the right talent.
Wipro, like some of its peers, has seen higher attrition in the past couple of years, especially for employees with 3-5 years of experience. It has about 1.7 lakh employees (as on March 31, 2019) and a large chunk is at the 1-5 years’ experience level.
The company has offered special incentives due to rising demand among its peers for employees with niche skills such as data science. Last December, it had also announced special bonus to campus hires who have always been with Wipro.
